Steel Preparation
Set up a cup of 1/4 Dawn dishwashing soap and 3/4 water, then put in 8 cotton balls.
1. Attach Gekko Disc and 220 Silicon carbide film or 220 Piano Disc
Set up polisher: (a) 300 RPM (b) Time - 1 minute max on paper (c) Force - 30 N (d) Water - On After grinding, if scratches aren't uniform, grind longer Clean (e) sample with water and use one of the cotton balls (it is ok to rub hard) (f) ring guard (g) mover plate (h) platen (i) throw away used carbide paper (j) Gekko Disc- rinse, dry off and put away
2. Attach MD Plan Disc
Set up polisher: (a) 150 RPM (b) Time - 5 minutes (c) Force - 30 N (d) Water - off Put 6 drops of DiaPro Plan (9 micron) on disc before starting Start polisher - every 50 seconds add 2 to 3 drops to disc just to keep moist not wet After grinding, if scratches aren't uniform, grind longer Clean (e) sample with water and use one of the cotton balls (it is ok to rub hard) (f) ring guard (g) mover plate (h) platen (i) throw away used carbide paper (j) MD Plan Disc- rinse, dry off and put away
3.Attach MD Dac Cloth
Set up polisher: (a) 150 RPM (b) Time - 3 to 4 minutes (c) Force - 30 N (d) Water - off Put 6 drops of DiaPro Dac (3 micron) on disc before starting Start polisher - every 30 seconds add 5 drops to disc just to keep moist not wet After grinding, if scratches aren't uniform, grind longer Clean (e) sample with water and use one of the cotton balls (it is ok to rub hard) (f) ring guard (g) mover plate (h) platen (i) throw away used carbide paper (j) Clean Disc- rinse, dry off and put away
4.Attach MD Chem Cloth
Set up polisher: (a) 150 RPM (b) Time - 1 minute (c) Force - 25 N (d) Water - on (direct water to the side of the platen, not on the cloth) Set up a 1/4 cup of OP-U. Pour a puddle of OP-U on MD Chem Cloth Start Polisher - keep the cloth wet not moist. continuously drip OP-U on the cloth After grinding, if scratches aren't uniform, grind longer Clean (e) sample with water and use one of the cotton balls (it is ok to rub hard) (f) ring guard (g) mover plate (h) platen (i) throw away used carbide paper (j) MD Plan Disc- rinse, dry off and put away
