Help:User Accounts

Jump to: navigation, search

You do not need to be a registered EVOCD user to take advantage of the information made available through this web site. However, if you want to contribute (create new pages or improve existing ones, and we strongly encourage you to do so if you can) you need the EVOCD account.

Creating an EVOCD account

We do not support auto-registration of new users any longer, as our wiki become a target of spamming activities performed by individuals not related to the ICME community. Since September 2011 new accounts are created by the EVOCD system administrator.

To get an account please contact one of the following points of contacts: (Mark Horstemeyer), (Tomasz Haupt), (Greg Henley)

When requesting a new account, please provide a valid email account (where the notification will be sent upon creation of the account), and the organization you represent, if any. The email address is the subject of verification, as described below.

Logging in and creating a new account

Click on log in link in the upper right corner of the page and type in your username and password (cf. What to do when you forgot your password).

Verification of the new account

Note, that when a new account is created, the account must be verified. Unverified users are not granted edit and upload file privileges! To verify your account, our server automatically sends an email to the address you provided in the account request. If you do not receive the confirmation mail, first check if the message has been rejected by your spam filter. Otherwise, please contact (Tomasz Haupt) or (Greg Henley).

Important: if you are CAVS employee or student, use your email address to register

The confirmation message looks similar to this:

Someone created an account for your e-mail address on EVOCD ( named "Your Name", with password "12abc345de".
You should log in and change your password now.

You may ignore this message, if this account was created in error.

If you forgot your password

If you forgot your password, click on "E-mail new password" button on the login page. A new temporary password will be automatically sent to you by email. The message looks like that:

Someone (probably you, from IP address requested a reminder of your
account details for EVOCD ( The following user account is
associated with this e-mail address:

Username: YourName
Temporary password: 123ab45cde

This temporary password will expire in 7 days.

request, or if you have remembered your original password, and you no longer
wish to change it, you may ignore this message and continue using your old

You will be asked to create a new password after login using the temporary one.

Changing your password

You can change your password at any time. To do that, click on the Special pages link in the toolbox panel (last box on the left) and click on change password link in the Users and rights section.
