From EVOCD
Validation in the context of modeling and simulation is defined as: "The process of determining the degree to which a model or a simulation is an accurate representation of the real world from the perspective of the intended uses of the model or the simulation."[1]
Validation involves comparison of a model or simulations results to data from experiments or results from other models or simulations with characterized and known uncertainties. Validation occurs when a model or simulation's results and associated uncertainty bands overlap those of known data.
